Therapy for Sexual Trauma in Salt Lake City, Utah
Therapy for sexual trauma may be helpful if you’re struggling with experiences or feelings that are difficult to put into words. Survivors of sexual trauma do not owe anybody their story, as treatment is less about the event and more about the impact of the event. If you have a hard time trusting others, if you feel disconnected from your body or if you’re just hoping to feel more like yourself again, you’ve found the right place. We’ll work at your pace to help you feel safer, more connected and more like YOU again.
Finding Your Way Back to Yourself
This might sound familiar…
You have mixed feelings about trust and closeness. You deeply crave it, but you also feel guarded, uneasy or uncomfortable when someone gets too close.
You’ve spent a long time minimizing the impacts of what happened. Maybe you’ve written it off as “not that big of a deal”, yet you still feel the impacts.
You struggle with chronic pain or illness. You take care of yourself well, but you know your body is carrying something you haven’t been able to work through.
Physical closeness and intimacy come with a lot of confusion. Sometimes things feel ok, others times deeply distressing.
You carry a lot of shame and self-blame. It feels like you’re constantly doing something “wrong”.
Relationships come with a lot of doubt - you don’t know if your feelings are valid, you stay quiet about what you need and want or you pull away.
