Trauma and ADHD Therapist in Salt Lake City, Utah

Meet Kelsey

I’m a therapist who works with women and teens dealing with trauma and/or neurodivergence. If you’ve had disappointing therapy experiences before, you might expect generic coping skills, solutions to surface level problems or someone not interested in getting to know the deepest and most difficult parts of your experience.

Finding a therapist who you feel safe with is difficult. If you’ve made it to my page, you’re probably wondering, “Will this actually help me? Will my struggles be understood?”

I believe that healing happens in relationships. I want you to feel seen, understood and at ease in my office. This is how we get to the deep “stuff”. If this sounds like the type of therapy environment you’re looking for, please reach out!

What Life Can Begin to Feel Like With a Trauma Therapist in Salt Lake City, Utah

  • Emotions that once felt too big, too sudden, too much start to feel manageable.

  • Exhaustion from always being on alert lessens.

  • Connection becomes more accessible - to your partner, to your kids, to your friends.

  • Your nervous system starts to feel safer - you sleep better, you feel less tense, you’re not always bracing for impact.

  • Trust in yourself grows. You know things won’t always be perfect, but you have confidence in your ability to manage the ups and downs.

  • You advocate for yourself - you know what you need, how to ask for it and when to say no.

As a Trauma and Neurodivergent Therapist, I Believe In:

AUTHENTICITY

Therapy should be a place where you can be fully yourself, no masking or performance required.

MIND AND BODY CONNECTION

How we feel in our bodies is deeply connected to our mental health. We can’t address one without the other.

COLLABORATION

I can be directive when needed, but therapy is a place where we figure things out together and you learn to advocate for your needs.

SAFETY

Particularly when addressing trauma, safety with your body, yourself and your therapist are a must for the healing process.

HEALING AS A PROCESS

Trauma stacks up over a lifetime and it takes some time to peel back each layer of hurt and pain you’ve experienced. You don’t need therapy for the rest of your life, but healing doesn’t happen in a handful of sessions.

CONNECTION

This is the foundation of healing. You need to be seen, understood and heard. I strive to provide that space for you.

I’m Kelsey, Your Trauma and ADHD Therapist

I am a wife, mom, friend, dog mom, lover of travel, music and a good iced bevvie. I like to spend my free time doing something active (thanks ADHD) like weightlifting, Pilates or a walk around the neighborhood; but when the crash hits, always a good Netflix binge.

I try to be my authentic self in the therapy room, in hopes that it will allow you to do the same. My hope is that healing allows you to be your most authentic, unfiltered self.

I understand the therapeutic process personally and I’ve had to claw my way back to wellness over the years. I know how trauma feels and the many negative effects it can have on both mind and body and I think this is what has given me the gift of being able to really sit with my clients, to understand their struggles and to help them reclaim their lives.

The girl is wearing a striped tank top and has her hair in a ponytail, and the boy has short hair and is wearing a dark shirt. The man is holding the girl and their attention is directed toward the blackberries and greenery.

She has long dark hair, sunglasses on her head, and is wearing a blue sleeveless top and denim shorts. The background shows a street with parked cars, two people walking, a tree, and a historic building with beige walls under a clear blue sky.

  • A woman with short blonde hair sitting on a bench, writing in a notebook, in a room with minimalist decor, shadows cast on the wall by sunlight.

    Therapy for Sexual Trauma

Sexual trauma happens to both the body and the mind. You deserve comprehensive care in addressing a complex and difficult part of your story.

Therapy for Childhood Abuse and Family Dysfunction

Often times, our experiences in our earliest years impact how we navigate our relationships into adulthood. When we address these things in a trauma informed way, we shift from blame and hurt to empowerment and the ability to leave the past in the past.

  • A woman with shoulder-length dark hair, wearing a sleeveless beige top and brown pants, sits on a light-colored bench against a wooden slat wall. She is writing in a notebook. Next to her is an abstract framed artwork resting on the floor, featuring earthy tones and geometric shapes. Sunlight streams in across the room, casting shadows on the wall.

    Therapy for ADHD

An ADHD diagnosis doesn’t come with a handbook. Figuring out how it impacts you personally and how to navigate it requires a combination of trial and error, practical tools and a therapist that gets it.

  • A young man with dark skin and short black hair sitting on a beige cushioned bench, wearing a gray polo shirt and light-colored pants, in a calm indoor setting with soft lighting.

    Therapy for Teens

Finding a therapist that vibes with your teen can be difficult. I understand the complexities of family life with a teen who is struggling and strive to support parents and teen alike. If ADHD or trauma is part of your teen’s story, please reach out.

  • A middle-aged Black man with short hair and a beard, wearing a brown polo shirt and white pants, sitting on a bench against a plain beige wall. He appears to be in a contemplative or relaxed mood.

    EMDR Therapy

EMDR is an incredible therapy that helps people more healthily relate to past difficult experiences. Many people who have been in therapy for a long time finally find relief and understanding of their experiences through EMDR.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is it like to work with you?

The safety of our therapeutic relationship is the foundation to insight and change. I strive to help my clients feel at ease so they can use therapy as a space to explore the things they have previously felt hesitant to explore. People describe me as laid back, but direct when it matters.

Is this the right fit for me?

The best way to know is to connect. I offer a free 15 minute consult to help you get a feel for me and to see if the “vibe” is there, as well as ask questions you might have. I want you to feel confident that I have the skill and knowledge to help you on your journey.

How do you support teens?

As a marriage and family therapist, I was trained in systems theory. This means that when working with teens, I believe family involvement is essential to change. This can look differently depending on the age of your child, but your insight, support and involvement are key.
